2016 was somehow both yesterday and a lifetime ago. I spent it outside in every sense of the word. Highlights include loads of hiking, field parties, riding my horse, a Pitbull concert in Vegas, and bringing home a very good dog. Four generations of seventeen and those Shell genes are still going strong. ♥️ As time passes, my memory blends months and years together. In 2025, my New Year’s resolution was to capture a polaroid commemorating each week. Celebrating moments—whether mundane or spectacular—reminds me that each one meaningfully contributes to the whole of life. My contribution to The Wadsworth’s staff holiday tree this year is an ornament inspired by two of our collection gems: Sol LeWitt’s mural “Whirls and Twirls,” and Georgia O’Keeffe’s “The Lawrence Tree.” 7 days in CDMX to celebrate 8 years together and 1 year of marriage. May a love this good find you all. ❤️ Some signs from the No Kings Protest in NYC today. The impressive crowd of protesters—including seniors, little kids, dogs, students, you name it—were peaceful and respectful. I wasn’t able to join, but loved cheering on my fellow Americans from the sidelines for a few minutes. The last photo will make you laugh. #nokingsnyc We had fun celebrating the new Mr. & Mrs. Morris in SC this weekend! 💃💖 It was a pleasure to serve as juror for the Guilford Art League 77th Annual Exhibition and Sale earlier this month. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who helped organize and hang the show, and congratulations to the artists whose work is on view. After a year and a half on the road, (Un)Settled: The Landscape in American Art is finally in Hartford! It’s been a joy to work with colleagues and collections from across the country to bring this exhibition to life.
