
Laura Leonard is currently the Art Bridges Project Coordinator and Curatorial Researcher at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT. She collaboratively organizes small and mid-sized traveling exhibitions, conducts research on permanent collection objects, develops exhibition ideas and content, and explores new methods of object interpretation. Her most recent project has been co-curating (Un)Settled: The Landscape in American Art and authoring the accompanying booklet. Through her career as a curator and museum professional, she aims to contribute to a more inclusive and accessible history of American art.
Leonard earned an M.A. in art history from Savannah College of Art and Design, graduating summa cum laude in 2022. Her thesis, Reconsidering the Influence, Inclusion, and Legacy of the Women of Black Mountain College was the recipient of the 2022 thesis proposal award for the School of Liberal Arts. She previously worked as an art consultant in Asheville, NC and as a docent in several cultural institutions. Leonard graduated with a B.A. from Emory & Henry University in 2016 where she developed her affinity for art history and museum studies at the McGlothlin Center for the Arts and the William King Museum of Art.
